"MAKE FRIENDS WITH YOUR SKIN" The Basics of Skin Types.

"IF YOU DON’T IDENTIFY YOUR SKIN TYPE, YOUR PRODUCT CHOICES MIGHT WORK IN REVERSE."

SKIN is the largest organ of our body, is not as simple as it seems, at least sometimes. It can differ not only in its color but also in how they act and react in certain conditions. To nurture it with the love and care that it deserves, we need to understand what type it is. In fact, having a specific skin type throughout the body is a myth. We may or may not have different skin types in different body parts. But today let’s deal about "FACIAL SKIN"!!! Shall We...?

First of all, let’s see the divisions in skin types:

1. NORMAL SKIN

  • Neither dry or oily

  • Might not have major skin issues

2. DRY SKIN

  • Skin that always feels dry

  • Less sebum (natural oil produced by skin) production

  • Can be itchy, rough & irritating

  • Shows up aging faster

  • Wrinkles & fine lines appear faster

3. OILY SKIN

  • Higher secretion of sebum by the skin itself

  • Pores clog easily

  • Pollutants & dust sticks on easily

  • But age slower than dry skin

4. COMBO SKIN

  • Neither oily nor dry

  • Certain parts of the face seem dry/oily/normal

  • High chance of clogged pores

  • Mostly T-zone seems to be slightly oily

  • Cheeks slightly dry

BUT THIS IS NOT THE END OF IT...!!! WAIT...! Then what are the other types?

More subdivisions are there which we do not address much like DEHYDRATED, SENSITIVE, ACNE-PRONE, etc. NOW! There can be various combinations of skin types like Dry & sensitive, Dry & dehydrated, Dry & acne-prone, Oily & sensitive, Oily & dehydrated, Oily & acne-prone, more, more, and more...!!!

NOW LET ME COME TO THE POINT.

Whatever skin type you have, YOU NEED TO MOISTURIZE...!!! Dry skin definitely needs to be moisturized. But, do oily skin need a moisturizer? Yes, it surely does. Why because, when you (oily skin buds) don't moisturize your skin, it produces excess sebum which makes your skin more oily. Whereas applying moisturizer (oil-free) on your skin controls the excess of oil secretion.

For "dry skin buds", make sure you use a hydrating moisturizer. There are a lot of products (especially in Korean skincare brands) with skin calming and soothing ingredients which is ideal for sensitive skin. And for acne-prone skin; don't worry; options are endless for you as well. JUST FIND YOUR BEST FITS...!

Keep in mind that the same skin type will not persist the whole lifetime. Skin type can change according to weather, hormonal changes, depending upon the food you consume and many other factors. So before you plan to buy any skincare product, KNOW YOUR SKIN...!!!
